I have a HRR2162SDA Honda Lawn Mover. It doesn't start. Diagnosed no spark
Lawn mower was sitting for years - cleaned up - new oil and gas.

Pulled and cleaned spark plug. Cleaned magneto coil armature contacts.

Hold down safety bar, pull ignition cord with gas on or offf, and spark plug out - no spark.

Thanks to Mowerman - I figured out how to set the armature to magneto gap and got spark - then ran and now problem is it only runs a short while in choke mode - then if you move to faster speed it dies - seems to be running rough - will try changing oil again and draining carb again. Any other advice is appreciated. Starts on first pull now.

The fuel valve is likely sticking. You can try Seafoam in a small amount of gas. No guarantees.

Otherwise the fuel valve that's activated by the diphram or float needs cleaning.

The magneto may have been good. Rust forms on the magnets and shorts out the armature. A little sand paper may have done he trick for spark..

I got the same model from a client who had let the mower sit outside for 2 years and with clean spark plug, oil and gas it still would not start. I called the local dealer for a rebuild kit for the carb, but he said a "new" carb was cheaper than rebuilding mine. $18.00 later I walked out with the new carb. 20 min later it was on the mower and started in 3 pulls. Runs a little rough so I am sure it needs a "Spring" tuneup but I have been mowing with it for several weeks now with no problems.
