I am borrowing a Craftsman 10-in table saw from a friend. I cannot reach him and need to change the blade. Can anyone guide me through this?

Without a model, I can just speculate on what's the normal procedure.

1. Unplug saw
2. Remove plate next to blade
3. Make blade verticle
4. Full up position
5. Use wrench to access nut. Use any access holes in blade or scrap wood to keep blade from turning. I've also used vise grips to hold the blade.
6. some saws have an easy way to stop the shaft.

Since you didn't provide a model number, can't look online.

Basically reverse the procedure to install.

As KISS said unplug, raise blade all the way up, remove the throat plate. You will need two 10" adjustable wrenches. You may or may not be able to get wrench between the blade and the left side of saw to hold shaft. Saws come with special wrenches for changing blade.

You will need two wrenches to do this job. They come with the saw and if you have borrowed the saw, he may not have loaned you the wrenches too. If you have these two wrenches, then first of all, unplug the saw from the electrical source. You don't want to lose any body parts. One wrench goes on the shaft and one on the bolt holding the blade on. If there is a plate covering the hole where the blade protrudes, you will want to remove this to reach the blade shaft and bolt. I use the edge of the saw to block the wrench on the shaft from moving and loosen the bolt with the other wrench. Unscrew the bolt and lay it aside to find it again. You will need it. Carefully take the blade off and lay it aside. Just reverse the procedure to replace. Be sure to notice which way the blades point when you take it off so you will replace the blade going the same way. It will not work properly if the cutting edges are going the wrong way. Be very careful using the table saw. It is a very dangerous tool and you could loose a digit like I almost did. If you are not used to a table saw, you should read the instructions first. It could through blocks of wood across the room and if you are in the way, you could get hurt. Be sure no one else is in the way either, especially kids. Good Luck. :)

I agree with pugaso, two very thinset wrenches are required for this task. You can get away with one normal adjustable wrench on the outside of the arbor but between the blade and the motor you need a stamped steel wrench from Sears.

While we are on the subject of table saw safety, remember NEVER use the rip fence and the sliding guide at the same time.
