Is the battery new? Does it use a electric clutch?

If it runs with the battery then all you have to do I check the wiring and see if it has a fuse in it and if there is check the fuse and see if it is blown if not I would have a shop check the magneto and iu have them replace it I have this happen to me lots of time with different mowers and if it a murray get rid of it and get you a snapper rider

If your battery is over 1 year old, and I do not care what the battery manufacture says, the life span is usually only 1 year. Have your battery tested. If it has a dead cell it will not hold a charge. And then if you have problems, check into the charging system.

* Your mower has an alternator that feeds a voltage regulator that charges the battery as long as the motor is running.
* Check the voltage across the battery to make sure you have 12 volts DC or greater. If the voltage drops and remains low, then the alternator is not doing its job.
* Good luck... Adios... Jasper...
