Mower Deck Height Adjustment
Own a TroyBuilt LTX 2146. Need to know how to access the mechanism that controls the mower deck height adjustment. Although the deck is set on the highest notch, it is scalping the grass. Can tell it has dropped because the custom made blocks, used to ensure the deck is level after maintenance, no longer fit under the deck. Looked in the manual, but it is of no help. Would appreciate any assistance given. Thank you for reading this.

You have a deck hanger bracket, or cable broken, or missing. Could also be that a hitch pin has fallen off and allowed the deck to drop. Inspect visually and you should find the problem I suspect.

Hello Mowerman2468, Thank you for the response. However, hanger brackets and cables are intact and both hitch pins are properly engaged. Suspect that the attachment of cables to level control arm is worn or loose. Need to know the best way to get to the cable – control arm connection. Remove deck or rear plate? Also, the blades are level but no longer reach the same height they once did. Thanks again.

Do you have notches on the side of the mower where you let the deck down, or is it just one movement? If it is just one movement, then you will have an adjustment knob on the center console. Adjust this to increase the ground clearance.

Well then, get down and really inspect the deck mounting brackets and cables well to be sure you have not overlooked anything. Do you have an owner's manual? If so , you may be able to see if there is something missing.
