I have a snapper riding mower that won't go in reverse, but will go in forward. Any ideas?

I have a 8hp snowthrower and it doesn't throw snow very well especially in thick snow do I need to replace something to make it work better

My snapper wide area walk behind mower will not move in forward gears it seems to shift into all 5 gears but will not move, reverse works fine. I replaced the drive belt and checked the key on the pulley, it is fine. I don't know what to do next.
