    Hi,
You have quite a few hours in that machine. First see if there is a visible sign of leaks(dirt buildup) that are obvious. The unit is listed as not serviceable, but if it leaks there is a way to add oil, 10W30.
It could be the belt or one of the idlers. There is a diagram of the belt routing at the site in my signature.
    Peace,
    Clarke

My John Deere L120 mower has a problem going up embankments or even slight hills. I have replaced both mower belt and drive belt and the two plastic pulleys. It still "won't hardly pull itself" up a grade. Is the problem in the rear end or is there an adjustment on the differential?

John Deere Model 160 Lawn Tractor Clutch and/or Transmission Problems [ 1 Answers ]

Either my clutch needs to be adjusted or my transmission is shot. I looked at the clutch assembly for about an hour but could discover no way to try adjusting it. How do I determine if it's the clutch adjustment or the transmission.
