    John Deere 170 Igniter Issue FC420V Engine
    John Deere 170 with Kaw FC420V-DS00 14hp engine, once it gets hot it shuts off and will only restart after cooling, I purchased a new igniter but the engine will not run at all with it installed but will run with the old one. Went to dealer and they confirmed the new igniter produces spark and the only one available for my engine is the AM132770.
    I am stumped that the new one will not produce spark, does this mean I have a weak coil and should replace it? Any one seen this issue before?

    Hi,
    There have been a number(many) bad igniters on the market over the years. The Kawasaki number is 21119-2101. Also a thought is to find a helpful Deere dealer who will see if you can go with the one-piece #91121-2086(AM121820)
