John Deere 160 Lawn tractor won't engage starter
I have a JD160 lawn tractor when I turn the key nothing happens. It has a Kawasaki FB460V engine. I tried to follow the wires. If I jumper the relay before the starter with the key in the on position the engine will start. Not sure what the problem is I am thinking it may be the key switch?? Can anyone offer some advice.

Could be the relay, or the ignition switch.

Just to add my couple of pennies, they (the JD dealer) has a relay kit for the 160 you describe that eliminates that issue... It's the 'turn the key and just get a click if anything at all, right?

It could be the clutch sensor

John Deere 160 lawn tractor [ 2 Answers ]

I had to replace the belts in my tractor, and hence had to remove the clutch etc. to do so. Now that I have it back together, the clutch does not disengage the belts and stop the tractor correctly. I assume this is either an adjustment on the clutch, or the belt itself. Can anyone help with this??...
