How to set max RPM on dewalt drill
    Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone can explain in fairly simple terms how I can set the max RPM on a Dewalt 18V cordless drill (DC728). The drill has two speed setting (aptly named 1 & 2) and the chuck has up to 17 torque settings. I assume that some combination determines the max rpm but I can't seem to find the calculation chart to outline this. Anyone have something like this?

    Regards,

    Sam

The torque setting allows tightening so far(torque/turning power).
There are only 2 speeds, on many, letting off the trigger slightly will allow slower speeds.
    What are you dealing with?
Is this a Union Job and you are working too fast?

LOL, no, not a union job, just a home fixup job. It was a recommended setting for a carbide tip drill bit to drill through ceramic tile. It ended up working fine, I was just curious if there was a way to configure the max RPM, but it doesn't sound like there's an option to do this for this model. Thx for the reply.

Speed can really only be determined by speed settings or variable speed.

At the preset torque, the speed abrubtly drops to zero.
