How far should a craftsman 5.5 hp snow blower model no. 536.886150 be throwing snow?
Has a new auger belt. Only throws it about 5 feet. Constantly gets clogged.

I had exactly this problem with the same snowblower. In my case, the problem was a loose bearing retainer -- two of the three the nuts and bolts had fallen off and the retainer (and bearing) was floating free. The third nut was on by only a few turns.

The bearing was on the drive shaft just behind the impeller, allowing it to skew sideways and bind against the housing.

I replaced the three bolts and used nylock nuts, which won't loosen by vibration.

The snowblower has never run better.

The repair took a few hours, because I had never dug into it before. It was easy once the auger was removed.
