Well it was running fine last time I used it, and I went to go mow today, and it was cranking slow (brand new battery by the way) and it only cranked for about 30 seconds total before the battery was dead. So I let it sit and tried cranking it again, and the starter was turning, but not cranking the engine. So I let it sit for a while, came back and now the tractor isn't doing anything when I turn the key. The tractor is a Dayton with a 10 horse power Briggs and stratton engine in it.

Then engine isn't seized or anything either...

So I to shorten things up, can I bypass the starter somehow (I was thinking about puttin it in gear and pushing it to try to start it) and can I put a pull start on it?

Lets start by charging the battery back up to full power. Put it on trickle cgarge for about 4 hours before cranking. Come back here once that's done since we can't help you while the battery is discharged.

Hmm, don't always assume you have major problems, sometimes it is a simple fix. Good job there ball.

Yeah, it wasn't the battery, it was a combination of me overlooking things and the last owner being an idiot. He had the red wire going to ground and the black wire going to the solenoid, there for my battery grounded itself out over night. He must have switched the wires.. idk why he would do that.

Glad it is working for you. If the previous owner fooled around with this machine you may want to spend time checking out possible bypassed safety switches and any other after market engineering.
