Craftsman 917.256501 shuts down when brake applied
Every time I push the brake all the way, the engine sputters and quits. I have followed the linkage to the trans axle but cannot see where to adjust or even if this is the problem.

    Hi,
It would not be the problem. If the motion drive belt is releasing tension, then it would be the brake switch. It usually fails in a different fashion, but it can fail that way, also.
    Peace,
