Hi,
I have a new Husquvarna LGT2654 (purchased March 29th) with the Briggs and Stratton Intek V-Twin. It's run fine until now. It's been extremely Hot & Dry in the Memphis, Tn. Area and it's been about 3 weeks since I had to cut the grass... Now it cranks and cranks but won't start.
I disconnected the fuel filter and gas lines up to the carburetor side of the fuel pump and gas is getting through. Pulled the plugs, they had some carbon on them so I sanded and cleaned them and reinstalled. I wanted to check for a spark but wasn't sure if it was OK to just hold the plug wire a small distance away from the plug was Ok to do?? :confused:
Since it wasn't the end of the season I didn't have any stabilizer in the gas yet so I guess it could be that but I am not quite sure if spraying carb cleaner will help, where to direct the spray or if it would void the warranty... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: I sprayed some starting fluid in and it did run for about 5 seconds and died...

You could have water in the carb bowl. Remove the wires from the fuel solenoid(if equipped), and remove the fuel solenoid, then remove the fuel bowl. You may see some water, or trash in the bowl. If so, drain fuel tank, clean fuel tank with carb cleaner, or fresh fuel. Allow the fresh fuel or carb cleaner to flow through the fuel lines. Then reassemble with a new fuel filter, and fresh fuel, try and start, then let me know what happens.

I had the same problem , I did all the things you did put it back together and still had the same problem. Removed the bowl again then removed the fuel solenoid and then with flat screwdriver I removed the jet on the side of solenoid (it was clogged, cleaned it out , put back together and run like new hope this helps. I'm a new member, trust me this site helped me and I want to help anyone I can, because I know the feeling of trying everything and nothing working.keep trying and you will find something you missed but it can be fixed.

A carb can be an easy repair, or even at times doing a professional shop boil out on the carb doesn't work the first time. I have done a carb that looked perfectly clean 4 or 5 times before I finally got all the microscopic (yes microscopic) pieces of trash out of the carb and getting it to run properly.
p.s.
My favorite was a john deere, (not a cheap imitation, a real deere),
And the guy was his own MR I CAN FIX ANYTHING and had done
All sorts of "repair" attempts and I looked in the fuel tank and seen a
BEETLE blocking the fuel outlet from the tank, used a suction tank,
Removed the beetle, charged him for "insect blocking fuel line" and
Sent him on his way.

Careful MOWERMAN, A deere is a deere, no "cheap imitations" LOL If you are referring to the L100 Or LX series, they are the real deal, MADE IN GREENVILLE TN, not in China as many think. The '08 models we are now building even have a Made in Tennessee sticker on the hichplate.

Thank you both for your recommendations. It looks like I may have gotten it cleaned out and has run several times with no problems. It actually seems like it runs better than when I first got it.
I did try to remove the bowl you mentioned but the screws are not where you can get a driver directly on them. I know I could use some small channel pliers but it is still under warranty so I didn't want to gouge the heads up trying to get them off.
I was just about ready to borrow a trailer and take it to the service center. What I did do 4 or 5 times was to remove everything to get to the L shaped neck that runs down into the carburetor from the gas line. Then I sprayed carburetor cleaner down in there, let it sit and blew it out with air. Then I used starting fluid and it took about 5 times spraying that before it would stay running... I now have all fresh new Hi Test gas and added Poulan gas stabilizer... Whew... I hope it keeps running.

I am new to this forum, but use TractorbyNet.com a bunch. I also have a John Deere 07 model LA150 with 26 HP V-Twin. Bought it from Lowe's. One of my friends also bought same model about two weeks before mine. We have both had same problem with carb. Motor runs great, then all the sudden you come home from work need to get 4 acres of yard mowed and good ole deere spins and spins, no start! I am somewhat tech person, you know air, fire, and fuel should run... well This B & S (no pun intended) cranks with a shot of starting fluid but dies out at end of squirt. We did both take bowl off carb, no visible dirt or trash... reassebled and it cranked right up. Dealer is 70 miles away and says "bring it over, while its doing it" ha ha This is second time for me and third time for friend. Anyone have this problem? Is a fix out there? Dealer says no recall, but could be a "PIP" JD for product improvement program. Lots of agony over high dollar machine... Did not post as question, because sounded just like Linda's problem... Any Wisdom? Thanks

Check and make sure the fuel hose is connected to the bib on the fuel tank and that the fuel line is not pinched anywhere up to the carb. These are known problems

Thanks for quick response, I did check as you sugguested and found fuell all the way to carb, but bowl was bone dry... have a friend who has had same prob with identical mower/engine. I searched for 6-8 hours on Deere website as well as Briggs... nothing after diassembly for the third time or carb assembly and finding it dry... finally got dealer service center who was honest with me and said "oh yea plastic needle valve has been a problem for this engine, Briggs came out with metal one", he had some ordered because he keeps running out!! So it shoud be in Friday, and he offered to just give me the part, since I know internals of carb as well hs techs... but he is 70 miles away so it is not really free... but at least he was honest. I bought JD LA 150 from Lowe's, another big box store disaster... when I questioned Lowe's where about the prob, they said "couldn't be carb prob cause all John Deere mowers were fuel injected"!! Now those are rocket engineers... hope this helps someone else... thanks
