    Make sure it is clean. Also make sure if it is a mower that the blades are sharp. Also use the proper cutting height for your workload. You could be bogging down the unit and its causing it to overheat.

    I'd also take a look at the valve clearance and whether the flywheel shear pin has been compromised.

    Hi,
    I agree with KISS insomuch as the flywheel key would be the prime culprit and valve clearance could be another. If reduced power may be present, then it also could be one of the many bad camshafts that were made.
