11 hp Briggs & Startton burned ignition coil
Got an oldish rideon lawnmower from a friend fitted with a 11 hp Briggs & Stratton mod 252707. It has twice melted the insulation on the ignition coil, while he had it. Before I fit a 3rd unit, I would like to know what could be the cause of the problem. I noticed that there is no rectifier or regulating unit on the alternator coils. Is this correct?

    Hi,
You have a bad ignition(key) switch that is feeding battery voltage to the wrong parts of the harness,
    Peace,
