    Panasonic TV Problems
I have a Panasonic Tau CT-32HL42CF (CRT) almost 4 years old.
When I push the on/off button nothing happens.
No noise, no power, no picture.
    Any ideas?

I had the same problem and the following worked for me: Pull off the back of the TV, or cut a hole in the plastic near where the plug goes in if it is too hard to get the back off. I cut the hole and did not damage anything. Near where the power cord enters the circuit board, there is a small fuse. Pop out the fuse and see if it is burned out. Mine was. I want to Radio Shack, bought 4 fuses for $3.00, replaced the burned out fuse, put everything back together, and the TV is now fine. Hope this helps.

My husband and I took your advice and it works. $3.00 was cheap as opposed to $55.00 service charge just to tell me what was wrong! Our TV is a bear to pick up and maneuver--but a little elbow grease is worth saving a lot of money! Thanks again for the advice!!

Aboslutely delighted with your advise. It wasn't just the $60 - to look at it cost. It was the 5-7 days to tell me what was wrong with the TV that convinced me to try - had the 36HL42C owners manual - same as the 32HL42c model you had. In the 36" there is a little removable piece of plastic (screwed in) near the power cord that gives you limited access to the fuse. Opening is not big enough for fingers but with flash light & a small needle nose plyers (handle with care) you can get out. Although fuse did not look broken, did go to Radio Shack for slow blow 6.3 amp, 125v replacement - did not have 125v but did have 6.3 amp, 250v replaced it and worked fine. As extra precaution now have the TV plugged into a surge protector not wall.

Just wanted to say thanks! My 6 year old 36" Panasonic TAU flat screen TV just stopped working. I turned it off one night and it wouldn't turn on the next day. I found this thread and replaced the 6 amp 125 volt fuse and it's working! Fyi, home depot also carries these fuses.

    Thanks!

Hi dnnshsu - I've CT-32G19J panasonic TV. It just stopped working today. It could be the fuse problem. I opened the back case, but I don't know which one is fuse ? Is it the one looks like white plastic box where power cords go through ? How do I remove it ?
I would really appreciate if someone answers to this.

Another Television Saved! Thank you for starting this thread. I also could not find the 125v fuses but they had the 6.3Amp, 250v, Slow Blow fuses at Radio Shack.

If you need the Radio Shack Part number it is: 270-1068. It comes in a package of 4 for $2.99.

Unbelievable that a $0.75 fuse fixed a $500 (original price I think) TV!

Here is what is funny.. this thread is still dead on accurate. I have a Panasonic 36 " HD Tube TV 5 years old..and the same same thing happened to our set ..no power. The thread told me exactly what to do. However, getting the fuse in and out is not an easy trick, the access port is too small to be much use. After trying every possible iteration of a needle nose pliers I own or could borrow, nothing worked. So this sounds drastic, but I cut another access port into the back of the TV ( on my set .. just to the side and back corner right above the fuse holder) with a Dremel and then with the port open, replacing the fuse was simple. The fuse ( package of 4ea) 6.3 amp 260 V from Radio Shack just as the thread describes is perfect.. make sure you get the "slow blow" version. But figure out where to cut and save yourself aggravation of not being able to get to the fuse holder. In the end.. $3.00 to fix a $1,000 dollar set is great.. thanks again for the great site and the help. It really works.

I had not found this site before I fixed my TV, but came across it while looking to share some knowledge. Same problem, same solution. My four year old CT-34WX54 Panasonic TV would not come on yesterday. I did not cut a hole in the set, rather I unscrewed the case which was held in place by about a dozen screws. The screws that needed to be removed were conveniently pointed to by arrow heads molded into the plastic case. I lifted off the case with the TV lying screen down on the table. I looked at where the power cord entered and nearby was a fuse that had blown. Off I went to Radio Shack and got the replacement - 4 for $2.99. As with everyone else, it sure saved a lot of time, down time, and money.

I have the same problem with my Panasonic CT-36HL43 HDTV. I opened the access port but where exactly is the fuse. Is it near the top, side or bottom. Help!

I had no access port, but the way I found it was to follow where the electrical cord entered the set. The fuse should be about the next thing in line so that it will blow before those electrons can hit anything else. You can tell I am not a TV repair man by my lingo. My fuse was about an inch long and 1/8 wide, just a standard looking glass fuse.

    Good luck

Thanks for your reply and I finally did find the fuse but it is hard to get to and it is right next to the cord as you mentioned.

So since I posted in June, I've blow the 2 new fuses that I bought at home depot. Anyone else finding that the new fuses aren't holding up? Should I be worried that there's a bigger problem with the TV? I have it plugged into a entertainment center surge protector so I don't think the issue is with electrical surges...

Also, agree with the comment that unscrewing and sliding out the back cover of the TV is better solution than cutting into the cover.

    Thanks!

I have not had the new fuse blow to this point. I would only question whether you got a slow blow fuse as a replacement. If you did not get a slow blow, that may be why they have blown. If you have the proper fuse, I suspect there is some other problem.

I will attest to the accuracy of this information. In fact, I registered as a user just so that I can let others know that this ABSOLUTELY works!

My husband and I thought for sure that we were going to have to replace our 4year old Panasonic TC, model whatever.

We went to Radio Shack and got the fuse that was in the back of the TV, which mind you, did not SEEM to be blown.

They didn't have the 125V so we got the 250v and I am as happy as a lark. It cost us $3.99 to repair our TV.

Thanks so much for sharing the info.

I just registered to say thank you. I thought I had two options:

    1) Find a friend with a truck (or two, as it needs to go there and back), and enlist help to carry the ridiculously heavy television to and from the store. While there, pay $79/hour to have someone look at it.

    2) Pay $35 for someone to come to my house, plus $79/hour to look at the television. If it couldn't be fixed here, add another $35 for him to take it to the store plus $79/hour for any remaining labor.

I'm very excited and grateful to have fixed this with a pack of two fuses for $4.99. Thank you to everyone who provided advice and replied to say that this worked.

I had a little trouble finding the fuse because I didn't know what I was looking for. In case anyone else is as mechanically-illiterate as I am, it's an inch long glass cylinder (about 1/8 inch wide) with metal tips on both ends. It's right next to where the power cord connects to the circuit board. The old fuse just pops out and the new one pops in. And, provided the television is unplugged, it was quite safe to open it up, reach in, and switch the fuse.

    Thanks again.

My Panasonic CT-36HL43G with a Nov 2003 Manufacturer Date and chassis # AP410.

I am not sure it's a fuse problem for me as I still get a blinking Power LED when I power on the unit and get none of the usual relay clicks or sounds.

I was watching TV for at least 1 hour when I heard a snap and then nothing. The Power LED blinks on and off. When I Power off LED, the LED is off, power on, led blinks on and off with no other sounds or actions.

I unplugged the unit, waited 30 seconds, plugged back in, turn on, Power LED goes On, the relays click, Degaussing occurs, another click and then LED starts to blink on and off with no other actions or sounds.

Anyone have any ideas of what to do?
