Optical audio cable doesn't seem to fit, do they come in different sizes?
I have a Samsung TV (LED series 8) and a Samsung Digital Home Theater System (HT-TZ522) They both have covers that have hinges so as you put in the optical end the door opens and it looks like the ends should fit in the socket but I can get it to fit in correctly. Am I doing something wrong? Do optical cables come in different sizes?
    Thanks in advanced-Char

Nope, should work just fine. Try rotating the cable as it only fits in one way. Also make sure that the cable's head is not too thick as the optical connection on the UN-xxB8000/6000/7100 models is very tight to the TV's back.

:) I forgot to mention that one, seems so obvious to me, but you're not the first person I've tried to help who forgot to take the rubber protectors off the ends.

OMG I had to say thank you because I didn't know this either and I'm trying to ram the cable in and cussing and on the verge of tears. Why doesn't it say this anywhere on or in the box? I'm not exactly technically challenged but I have never used one of these cables before. C'mon man!

Jeez, I had the same issue and I was going crazy trying to figure out if I bought the wrong size, which made no sense at all. It certainly does beg the question: why (at least on the packaging for my cable and apparently others') doesn't it say to take those things off? They look like part of the connector and I would never have thought to try and remove them. Glad I checked in here!

I had the same problem - those "bulbs" don't look like protectors, they look like part of the connector and delicate ones at that! Why don't they make this clear on the packaging for these things? I'm apparently not the only one who was confused - I bought it from cablesforless.com (great price at least) and there were absolutely no instructions or info at all!
The good news: I had ignorantly been using stereo RCA's to connect my BluRay to my Bose 3-2-1 system and not getting the full benefit of the 5.1 surround technology. Now that I finally figured out how to connect the damn optical digital cable, it sounds amazing! Worth the aggravation, but still...

Same for me, but I feel more like blaming someone than blaming my own genes. At least I had the reflex of checking this wonderful help desk. I don't feel alone anymore, left in the dark by box designers assuming I know it all at first sight.
