    Working with friends? Bad idea?
Hey! So I'm a hostess at a restaurant and one of the girls just quit leaving an opening! One of my best friends works for her dad but wants another job and she asked about mine and if we are hiring ever if I could tell her?

I'm debating. See she NEVER lets me meet her friends and all the friends I introduce to her like her better because she is skinny and gorgeous and has a SUPER out going personality then she makes plans with them and discludes me or if I have drama with them she will talk about them to me then be like "i love you" to them. I am also outgoing and a lot like her but when she's around I feel like she over powers and cuts me off.

I feel like this will transfer to work and it'll put a strain on the friendship. Plus if she works the nights I don't when will we ever hang out!

But if I don't tell her I feel selfish, and like a bad friend. What do I do?

If you feel that way about her, then don't tell her. She can get her own jobs. Your life will be far worse if she is working at the same place as you. This is definitely not a good idea to let her at the same workplace as you are now in.

Sounds to me like you are a little bit insecure and jealous, but a good friend.

If you believe having her around at work would make your friendship and job stressful, then you shouldn't have her work with you.
But, I disagree with twinkie. You need to tell her something. Try telling her that you think a friend at work would distract you, you distract her, maybe it's policy not to have pre-existing friendships at work (true in some places), or something else like that. It doesn't have to be a lie, but just enough to let her know you and she can't work together.

    Good luck!

I don't encourage people I wouldn't actually want to work with to apply even when where I work is hiring. If you don't want to work with her, don't tell her that they're hiring. In this economy, someone leaving doesn't even necessarily always open up a position anyway.

And this wasn't addressed in your question but I feel the need to bring it up. You brought this girl up as your best friend. But the way you described her, sounds like you don't need enemies with a friend like that.

She is not an enemy, its not like a pursposeful thought out thing its just the way she is, not spiteful just thoughtless?

Thank you for the advice I was thinking along the same lines as everyone just wanted to double check with other perspectives. :))

I just feel bad not telling her its hard to look from her shoes.

If you don't want to work with her don't tell her. I don't think it would be a big deal if you didn't tell her. She would never know ;)

    Right here
Drama with them she will talk about them to me then be like "i love you" to them

I don't think it is a good idea because you don't need to be having drama and double facedness in your work environment.

I agree with XOXO just don't mention when they are hiring.
