Awe awkward silences are rough... lol are you twelve too? Do you go to school together... talk about that teacher that you can't stand... lol what is he interested in.. U can talk about that. Do you share the same taste in movies, music, hobbies, etc. You can strike up a conversation with almost anything really... its just a matter of getting over that nervousness of the silence... if all else fails what I used to do is joke about the silence.. it broke some sort of ice. At least got us laughing :)

If you truly find there's nothing to talk about at the time, just say "Goodbye, I'll talk to you later" and hang up. Too much telephone time eventually gets stale for anybody. Bide your time and call again when you really have something to talk about. Overkill with telephone time or even in person can cause a relationship to burn out. Limiting your time will help keep it fresh and exciting for the both of you.

If you find silence awkwared in a relationship then something's wrong.
I remember even in the beginning days of my relationship we never felt awkwared when we start next to each other in silence.

Hold on. Is your boyfriend 12 years old or have you had a boyfriend for twelve years?

Secondly, hang up. The conversations over.

Please note her birthyear in her nickname. She is 12 years old. I have one born in 1993, so I kind of understand the thinking of that age.

If the silece between you guys gets awkward, it is time to just say, "well, I gotta go now." Just keep it sweet and simple. Call him back later when you have something else to say.
