What does it mean when your boyfriend wants a break?
I've been dating my boyfriend for 8 months now and he loves me a lot . We hang out at the mall often. But then after a test in school for a week ( same with me) he messaged me and said , '' I don't like any other girl but I need a break from this relationdship . I don't want to go to the mall in a long time because I want to hang out with my friends outside'' then he also said '' its not a separation but a break .'' he loves me but he needs a break . What does this mean? Can someone help me out?

It means he wants to keep you hanging on until he is done doing whatever he wants to do.
Give him what he wants. Leave him alone but don't wait around for him.

Usually when someone asks for a break that's their way of saying they want to break up, but they're just to cowardly to come right out and say it.

It could be that you get back together, but why should you have to wait until he makes up his mind what he wants?

Go out, have fun, date other guys. Don't wait around for him to figure out that you're worth dating. :)

They are right to a point. Sometimes a break is actually what it is a break. Breaks are scary, I know first hand but that doesn't mean you should not wait up. It all depends on how much you love him and vice versa. If the love is strong then you shouldn't have anything to worry about, but be careful because sometimes what is supposed to be love isn't. I know I have told girls I love them but didn't really mean it and I've gotten the same treatment. So my word of advice is to think long and hard. Decide if he's worth waiting for or not

He wants to do other things besides hang out in the mall with his girlfriend. Its up to you to get clarity in what he means, and how his own wants affect the relationship.

He stated his position, state yours, and get your meanings clear to each other so you can act accordingly.

That's what makes any relationship work, talking, and listening, COMMUNICATIONS, so you don't have to guess at what he says and means. Then you can base what you do about things on FACTS, and not just hurt, confused FEELINGS!

He has some issues that he wants to sort out, but he's not ready to let you go fully, so he wants to keep you hanging.

Once he sorts it out, he will either come back to you or break up with you fully. Did he mention how much time he needs? Did he mention some sort of end game where once he's done sorting things out, he will come to you with some sort of conclusion?

Well then, at least you know why he wants a break.

I'm guessing that you're both young teens. Teen romances come and go. He seems to be one that's going.

Go out, have fun, delete his Facebook, don't text him, don't call him, and just go live your life.

Trust me, your next true love is just around the corner. :)
