What kind of diet should a teenage girl be on?
Any suggestions? I don't want to try any diet that's going to effect my metabolism because mine is already very slow. But I need to lose 15+ lbs. I've lost that much on low carb before, but my metabolism took a pretty hard hit from it. Now I'm scared to go on another one... I've tried eating healthier and cutting down calories, but I gained 10lbs that month and I was doing cardio hard core also. Does anyone know what kind of diet a teenager should be on? Thanks

Weight watchers is good. It's healthy and it's balanced.
You could try to simply limit your portions while increasing your intake of fruits and vegetables.
You do need to remember that diet alone doesn't work... you need to exercise! I know you said that you gained doing cardio, but I would imagine that you did lose fat, but gained muscle (which is good).

As for exercise, always take the long road -- take the stairs instead of an escalator or elevator; park at the back of the mall lot and walk farther; when you walk, don't amble, but move along at a good pace; swim or water-walk if you're in a pool or lake; when you get dressed or undressed, stretch a lot.

Instead of watching the scales, look how your clothes fit.
I recently took up swimming and running, did not lose a pound in weight (wanted to get fit not lose weight) however my body toned up,my clothes fit better and I also lost inches of my waist and hip area,my weight on the scales stayed the same.
I ate quite well,in fact more,so any weight I lost I assume was converted into muscle.
I was not checking the scales everyday,or even every week.
A balanced diet is important as your body is still developing.
The weight watchers is good as it gives a wide variety of food choices, plus plenty of fruits and veg.
I ate loads of chicken and fish and red meat once a week.
Snacked on dried fruit, nuts and seeds and litres of water everyday.
Think healthy choices, exercise 3/4 times a week for half an hour, get a sweat worked up,lots of rest and your body will be healthy and find its natural weight.

How old are you? At some ages you will gain weight just because your body is maturing. Why do you think you need to lose weight. Who said you needed to lose 15 pounds?

I'm 15... I need to lose weight because I'm a type one (not type two, there's a HUGE difference) diabetic. It would be healthier for me to have a flat stomach without fat hanging over my pants. My grandmother and my mom said that I look good, but I need a flat stomach and to be at about 140 (I'm currently at 153) in order for my blood levels to be better. Please do not confuse me with a type two diabetic, I did not get my diabetes from being overweight, eating wrong, or not exercising. My pancreas spontaniously stopped working when I was 8 and 60 lbs. I just say this because I also say I need to lose weight and I wouldn't want to put the wrong idea in your head:) And it annoys me when people get me confused with being a type two... Thanks!

With the new information you provided my advice is to see your doctor and get a diet plan/exercise plan from them.
The best way to lose weight for anyone is slowly and being smart about it.
No crashing or crazy diets,if you have an underlining condition type 1,2 or anything, the first thing you need to do is check it with your doctor.
I'm sure at 15 your quite capable, confident and responsible checking your bloods and keeping a tight watch on your diet,it may be you just need to increase your exercise, again, that will need to be supervised closely by you.
Different types of exercise burn more sugar then others.
A check with your doctor will clear up how much pressure you can put on your body through exercise safely.

I agree with this. When you work out you do lose inches off your body, however you gain muscle and muscle weighs more. It's not a bad thing.
