Hello 2xtrouble,
Sorry to hear that things are going bad.
Personally, I think you should sit down and have a man-to-man talk with your son.
You must make it clear to him that you know he wants to be respected and treated like a man because he is 18. You must also add that if he wishes to be treated that way he must start acting like a man and stop acting like a pre-teen.
Make it clear to him that if he wants to succeed in life, he must stop yelling and adopt a more mature and civil manner of talking to people, not yelling at them.
Tell him that you don't like raising your voice at him, or having to discipline him - but you are forced to because of his childish behaviour.
Maybe your son is trying to make it big through music, and that is the reason why he doesn't want to study.
I guess you've already told him a hundred times how important school is, so I'm sure he's aware of it, but maybe afraid he won't succeed so he has chosen an "easier" way of success through music. (Correct me if I'm wrong).
Best of luck with your son,
-Xm8
