    Caught in a sexting problem
Two years ago I was dating a guy who I used send nude pictures of myself to through my cell phone. And as EMBARRASSING and shameful as it is to admit, we even made a few sex tapes. Now, trust me I know that I was so STUPID doing all of this. If I could I would take it all back because I had no understanding what kind of trouble I was getting myself into. Anyway, we dated for about 8 months and it was a serious relationship but eventually it ended. We haven't really talked much since but now I am in a new relationship and recently I came across some random girl's Myspace who had a picture of me in my bra and underwear on her page. Immediately, I recognized the picture and I knew that the only person who would have this picture is my ex boyfriend. I had one of my friends who is also friends with my ex boyfriend called him and asked how this girl got this picture of me. He said he denied knowing anything about it. I messaged the girl on Myspace and got her to delete the picture and I asked how she got it and she said she got it from a "hacked email account" from her brother. Honestly, I didn't believe her because her story really didn't make a whole lot of sense but it got me really worried about what other kind of pictures are floating around on the internet of me. I don't know what to do with this situation. I texted my ex boyfriend the other day and I said "I just wanted to make sure that any pictures you have of me on your computer or any of your old phones are deleted. Because if the wrong person finds that on you, you are screwed. " and I got no reply from him. I'm thinking about whether I should try to contact him again or what. I'm also freaking out because I know that I could get into a lot of trouble with the law because of these inappropriate pictures. I really need some advice because my current boyfriend is having a lot of trouble handling this, which is understandable but I just don't know what to do. Also, I HATE talking to my ex because it still brings back feelings every time I talk to him. So if anybody can give me some advice it would be greatly appreciated.

How old are you? The reason we ask is so we will give you the right advice.

Okay, just to clear up the rules, and if I'm wrong, I'm sure the mods will give me a kick in the rear. ;)

We do ask the age of the OP if the teen is asking for advice on sex. We do not give sexual advice to anyone under the age of 18.

Having said that, this thread is not about sexual advice. The OP is not asking us how to please her boyfriend etc. she's asking about pictures and video that were taken of her and are possibly on the internet. She's asking for advice on how to recover those pictures and video.

We could give better advice if we knew her age, but it's not necessary to know her age in order for us to give advice.

This is the teen forum, so we have to assume that the people posting here are in fact teens.

Now shake hands, make up, and move on. Okay? :)

    Hi, BananaPie!

True, there isn't a hard and fast rule concerning asking about the ages of anyone while on a thread. However, based upon the subject matter of the original post, asking about her age would seem to be prudent to do in order to know how to approach answering the best.

That's something that's generally understood around here...

Now, I do note that you did ask about them being underage. So, there's no real way of knowing about that until she responds.

    Thanks!

I think one you should contact myspace so this person's page will be deleted.

Then you contact the police because this man is committing a crime, because you did not give him consent he can be charged.

Yes it would be hard to tell the police what happened but at least it would be handled in the proper way.

    There's one problem with this.

If she was underage when she made this video or took these pictures, and she contacts the police, she could also be charged with distribution of child porn.

Yes, the ex will be charged too, if they can prove that he provided the pictures. But she won't get off scott free in this.

Well, I'm 17 and my ex boyfriend is about to be 20. And the pictures that he has were taken when I was about 14 or 15.

    Hi, babyshooter6!

I just want to caution you, while you're posting on this thread, that it's a good idea to be careful of what you write anywhere on this site because of the excellent exposure that it will get in search engines.

    That's just so you know...

    Thanks!

Child porn by the ages here where she is concerned. He could have been 17 or 18 at the time. Even if he were 17 I believe he could be charged as an adult. And a serious felony.

I would ask for legal advice. This is potentially devastating.

You'd do best to listen to members that have been here long enough to know the rules, written or otherwise.

We're very much a community here, arguing with people, being obnoxious and condescending, that's not the way to get on around here. Treat people with respect and you'll get respect in turn.

If you need any of the rules clarified, just ask, we'll be more then happy to explain them to you.

    Thanks. :)

One of the unfortunate facts of life is that once something is out there you can't get it erased from the internet. Your best bet is to be diligent in what you come across and as unfortunate as it is to relive. Turn the poster in for it. Like with the Facebook. You should have reported them to Facebook period. We can't go back and change things so from this point on you need to learn how to deal with what may come ahead.

    Hi again, babyshooter6!

Please try doing a search on Google for just the username that you use here to see what comes up in the search.

I just wanted you to be aware that you need to be careful here, especially considering the subject matter.

    Thanks!

I see this as a legal problem, best handled by an Attorney. The "old" boyfriend could very well be charged with a serious crime for his involvement in all of this. However, if he turned that photo over or someone broke into his computer or whatever else happened that photo is out of his hands and has been distributed. It's like capturing the wind - no way to ever know if the photo is off line forever.

I don't know that sending a text message to the effect that "you are screwed," which could be seen as a threat, is a terribly smart move, either.

OP needs to consult with an Attorney.

(As far as the age question - I think the ages of the parties ARE important here. She was underage and that makes a big difference. With apologies to Alty, I don't think Kitkat was out of line asking for OP's age.)

No worries Kit. It happens. It's all water under the bridge now. Funny thing is that my post is still up and it looks like I kind of lost it and went off on no one. A little coffee will cure that. ;)

Judy, your PM box is full. :(
