    18 and ready to move out
    I am 18 years old and about to start college at a community college. My parents have an account to pay off community college. I also have a girlfriend whose ready to move in with me also. We both have jobs that are right next to each to other. She lives 15 minutes away from here so I figured it would save a little gas money if we lived close by. I am asking for advice on what I should do or what others might think of my situation.

    Well my car is a 1993 model and I am in need of a more reliable car. Also I am worried about the risk of moving back in if I am not able to keep up with the finances of being on my own. All of my friends are moving away to college and I am staying in town so I am getting the urge to be on my own

    Then you need to prepare. You need to set up a budget of what you monthly expenses will be And see if you can manage on your combined income. And the budget needs to include wiggle room for emergencies.

    Ok, would it be a good idea to save up for a car together and share a more reliable car? Also I don't want to break the ties with my parents in a harsh way I want to talk to then but I am afraid they will think it's a bad idea mainly because it's with my girlfriend and they think I will forget about school, but I'm extremely dedicated to education and she was to be a nurse. They are also paying for college so I can't ruin that, how should I approach this?

    You approach this by showing them how prepared you are by creating a budget and how dedicated you are to your education and career goals.

    But be prepared for them to not agree. And if they are paying for school, they hold the upper hand.

    yes, plan, plan and plan, show them this is thought through. Depending on their moral values, the living with girlfriend may or may not be a issue also. Afraid of babies stopping the college
