    17 and 14 Year Olds?
In no way do I mean to post this to discourage anyone from asking about their relationships. I am merely asking if anyone has speculation around why there seems to be so many questions about relationships between 17 and 14 year olds. It appears that those are magic numbers. I don't recall that many 17/14 relationships when I was in high school. But then again I graduated with a class of around 250.

Freshmen and juniors, ( I think) I can remember Juniors and Seniors even making bets if they can "score" with some of the freshmen, or wanting to see how many they can have sex with, since so many freshmen were not used to the emotions of dating yet.

But then today, girls 12 are having sex a lot more then I ever could consider.

I guess a lot can change quickly. I mean, I can see it easily with technology. But until reading on here I was oblivious to how much high school has changed since I graduated in '06.

Well the Junior/senior and freshmen issues were what I remember from the 1960's and from what I remember from my own boys in the 1980's and from some of my sub teaching in the 90's.

    Technology has made things worse.

Now a 14 year old can go online and chat it up with 20 something's, pretending to be older.

Speaking from a female perspective, at the age of 14 it's "uber cool" to be dating someone older. It's a status thing. Sadly, girls that age don't have the sense my goldfish does. I'm not being mean, just honest. I remember being 14. I thought nothing bad could ever happen to me, I was an easy target.

As for 17 year old guys, well, they're 17, the main purpose in life is to have sex (for most, not all) and 14 year olds are easy targets. A 14 year old will often do what a 17 year old will not.

That's my take on it. I don't think times have changed that much, we've just added an extra source of communication, the worst one, the internet.

I don't think its just technology that's changing the rate youngsters grow up, check this link out and watch the video it leads to you may be surprised. I was. But it makes sense.

YouTube - The Arrival part 3 children mind control

If you only watch part of the above video watch it from 8:00 until end, its very eye opening to put it mildly, and its stuff our kids watch all the time. Harmless Cartoons, are they?

You tube wasn't created until 2006. Most cell phones couldn't take pictures let alone video. And texting wasn't much of an option then. Technology is driving a lot and so is that fact that many kids can wear what they want so they dress like they see on TV. A lot also has to do with the attitudes in society today.
