I believe it 14 and younger in alberta but other provinces may be diff... but what does a 19 year old want with a 15 year old... he may just want sex so watch yourself being a mom at 15 is not a good choice!

I've already talked to him if all he wants to do is get into my pants.
And he doesn't. He really likes me and wants a serious relationship
With me. Like, I know what I'd be doing. I'm very mature for my age.
Plus, I don't want to have sex yet.

Well I believe that women are more mature than men... but its hard when the guy your dating is much older.. cause you can't go to the bars with him and suck and there's so much you won't be able to do together until your 18... but on the age diff I have no opinon its more so up to your parents and if they approve

Ok. If you had a daughter? *If you do, okay*
Would you let her date a 19 year old if she was 15, turning 16 soon?

I know this one.. I can help lol. My cousin has gone through this also and she is now with child and everything. The law states you have to be 14 before its legal to consent to sex and the other party must be NO more than five years in age difference.
Though in my opinion when someone older wants to date someone so young there is usually something he really wants. I was with a older guy when I was quite young. I thought I loved him and I thought he loved me. He used me... for sex actually then he cheated on me with my best friends girlfriend and my best friend commitd suicide because of it

The age of sexual consent in Canada is 16, according to the Criminal Code of Canada.

It was bumped up from 14, last May, 2008.

There is no individual statues for each Province. All of Canada has the same provision.

The law also includes this provision:

The law includes a “close-in-age” provision of five years, which means it would be legal for a 15-year-old to have relations with a 19-year-old provided the relationship is not exploitive and the older party is not in a position of authority or trust.

No. It's not illegal to date anyone. But having sex together is illegal.

I'm not sure about that chrissymarie.

One of the reasons for upping the sexual age of consent was to catch internet predators. It is an interesting point though, to see in a court of law.

I wonder if a 19 year old male for instance, was dating a 14 year old, but not having sex. I would guess that it would be considered illegal, regardless if it was a sexual relationship or not. Part of the law says that anybody under the age of consent is not mature enough, and would be seen as being a victim.

My first boyfriend was 18, and I was 14. But that was another lifetime ago where we didn't have such massive child predator networks around the world.

I wonder too that if it were something that the parents approved of, would the law interfere? I doubt it, but who knows. If a teacher were to report it to the CAS today, I'd suspect he'd be in deep doodoo.

No Jake2008 I'm positive it's not illegal to date anyone.

By date I mean have a mutual agreement to a commitment between one another. Nothing sexual.
