Other professions with a teaching degree?
I just graduated last year with my elementary teaching degree with a specialty in middle school social studies. I am wondering what other professions are out there that my degree would be suitable for. I'm not looking to completely leave teaching-- I've substituted for the past year and am unsure if I will be able to find a job for the next school year. (There is a teaching college within 45 minutes of my home-- teachers everywhere here.)

McDonalds is always hiring, with a college degree you can make it to "fry" in a year or two. But seriously management positions in various companies in starting positoins. Stock trading, insurance agent, police officer, sales in many areas

    Jenaleeb,
Can I ask why you're thinking of not going into teaching? There are always positions available in the middle schools in my experience. If you're afraid of any specific element with educating middle schoolers, I think I can help. I've been working with middle school aged students for over 12 years, and I feel like I've got a pretty good grasp on what it takes to be an effective middle school teacher.

Let me know your specific concerns, and I'll try to help. As for other jobs available, there's always real estate, entry level business opportunities, and a variety of other jobs that I think you won't find nearly as rewarding as teaching can be.

    Good luck!
