Wrong State on part of W2
    Hi,

I live in Maryland. For some reason, My state taxes were correctly sent to MD for part of the year and then suddenly my employer switched it from MD to Virginia. Of course I never moved to VA. So my W2 has an entry for MD and another, incorrect one, for VA. My employer said they will fix it for this year but for 2006 I have to "pay the taxes" I don't know what that mean. I use turbo tax. Do I need to file an VA state tax as well as MD? I put both amount on my Federal. But what do I do about the state. Also, who refund me?
Please help. I don't have the money to go to H R Block or someone like that.
    :(

File a VA tax return as a non-resident with NO VA-based income. You will get ALL of the VA taxes withheld back as a refund. You will then end up sending the refund to MD, but at least you get the problem resolved.
