You must file tax return if you earned more than $3650. You will file nonresident tax return Form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ.
You can download the Form from IRS web site Internal Revenue Service and mail the return from India. IRS will mail you the refund check at your India address.

All Mukata says is accurate, but, hopefully, you still have a U.S. checking account.

If so, then have the refund direct deposited into that checking account. You can then have the bank wire transfer the money to your Indian bank.

This way, the refund check will not be lost by the Indian postal system, something that has happened with frightening regularity to my Indian clients in the past few years.

Yes, IRS system of mailing to foreign countries have drawbacks. For India it appears that they have outsourced this to an Indian company in Bangalore.
