    Tax on income during OPT
    Dear Friends,

    I am an international graduate. I am in US for four years. I worked during my 1-year OPT (Optional Training). Do I need to pay tax. If yes, what percentage. I am from Pakistan.

    Yes, you will pay federal income tax and state taxes on the income. Your income is exempt from social security and medicare taxes.

    Agreed, if you were a F-1 international student.

    If you were a J-1 international student, different story.
