    Single but W4 status is Married
    Is it against the IRS rules to be single but claim your status as married on my W4 on my weekly payroll?

    Technically, yes, but no one will care.

    You, on the other hand, MAY end up paying an under-withholding penalty if your tax due balance exceeds $1,000 come 15 April 2011.
