    filed 1040 instead of 1040nr
I'm a singaporean, on J1 visa. Interning in a company since July 06 and I'll be here till end of 07. I received a 1099-INT for my CD account so I guess I have to file the 1040NR instead of 1040NR-EZ form?

I stupidly used turbotax to efile my taxes and just realised they sent in the 1040EZ instead of the 1040NR. Reason why I used turbotax was becase the 1040NR form looks really complicated. The e-status says its accepted, so what should I do now? Seems like I have to file a 1040x and attach the amended 1040NR. What are the fileds I need to fill for the 1040x form..

I also filed my state returns using turbotax. Paid for it... but I think that form should be fine.

    help..

You need to amend the return using Form 1040X and attaching the Form 1040NR. Print the word "AMENDED" on top of the Form 1040NR.

The state return is okay; do nothing there.

Hi AtlantaTaxExpert, thanks for replying. I just found out that I am eligible for tax forgiveness. Do you think I should refile my state tax? Thanks

If tax forgiveness means getting a refund, then go ahead.

But check first what they mean by "tax forgiveness". A phone call to the state tax office should get you clarification.
