    Scholarship but missing 1042S
    Hi,

I received a small scholarship last year that was split into two payments (one was made September 2016, one January 2017). I have not yet received a 1042S and waiting to hear back from an inquiry whether they sent one and I just didn't receive it.

I had to file tax forms before (and claimed a treaty exemption), so it should be in the system, already.

Can I report the scholarship on my 1040NR without the 1042S?

    Thanks

File Form 4868 and WAIT for the Form 1042-S, especially if you are due a refund.

That is MUCH easier than filing an amendment.
