QUOTE," I live in florida and work in georgia. Do I, will I have to pay georgia state income taxes? "---Yes. In general, you owe income tax in both the state where you work and the state where you reside. Since Florida does not have an income tax, you would owe tax in Georgia only. You need to file either a non-resident or a par year resident state tax return form 500.
However, you can claim your state income tax deduction when filing your federal return by choosing between the state and local income taxes in Georgia or thesales taxes thatyou paid in Georgia when completing Schedule A for itemized deductions ( in case you file form 1040). In both cases, it is the amount of tax paid during the tax year.
