    OPT to H1B, FICA taxes
    Hi,

My OPT is valid from June 2006 to May 2007. My H1B was aproved Dec 2006. My employer started deducting FICA from Dec 2006. I have not got my H1B visa stamped yet. Do I still have to pay FICA from Dec 2006?

    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Thomas:

Yes, it is valid. You become liable for FICA taxes the day your H-1B is approved.
