    L1 with L2 dependents
Hi! I am currently with my L1 visa, I came here August 2014 with my husband, we filed our taxes separately since he doesn't have work yet last year, I was able to make a refund of my taxes last year, just for myself. Last April 2015 our kids already joined us here, we have 2 kids ages 10 and 7 years old, I haven't filed anything yet for them but I am planning to have them as my dependents since I earn more than my husband and I am the breadwinner of the family, how can I file for tax return this year? My family has L2 visa and we're from the Philippines. Thank you

First, you need to look at whether filing a JOINT return for 2014 would be better for you. You have to report all word-wide income on a joint, but even if you and your husband worked in your home country, the Foreign Tax Credit (Form 1116) would probably offset any extra tax.

Second, for 2015, almost for sure, filing jointly is the best option.
