    Incorrect State on W2
    I changed jobs last year.

    The previous employer was in state X and I moved to state Y.

    When I moved I gave the employer address of state Z(never worked in this state in 2012 or ever.)

    The W2 from previous employer has some income under state Z (I don't know why).

    Is this an error on part of the company. If yes what are my options. Or should I be filing tax in 3 states. :-( .

    Any help is appreciated.

    Your best choice is to get the W-2 corrected and get the withheld state income taxes refunded to you.

    If that is not possible, then you need to file a tax return for state Z requesting a full refund, attaching copies of the other two states returns to show state Z that you are paying taxes to the other states.
