    How Do I file
If I am currently married, however my husband hasn't worked all year, do I file head of household and just claim him as a dependent or do I file married filing jointly and claim him as a dependent?

Negative. You file JOINTLY, which gets you a joint standard deduction of $10,900, plus two personal exemptions of $3,5oo each.

He is NOT your dependent; he is your co-filer.

You are not head of household. As married, you can file only as married filing jointly or married filing separately. It is normally more beneficial to file joint return.

    NCFoxButterfly:

The answers MukatA and I just posted assumed that you are a resident alien or a U.S. citizen AND that you have no children.

If you have children AND if your husband is a non-resident alien, you CAN file Head of Household under the assumption that the children qualifies you for HoH status.

NOTE: Your husband cannot qualify you for HoH status.
