F1 student who got married and filing separately.
    Hi,

I came to the US (Georgia) in 2008 and have been on F1 since then. So I understand that I am supposed to file 1040NR forms.

    1. Should I file itemized or standard?

    2. For 2010 taxes, I filed through a tax filing consultancy and they itemized my taxes? Did they file in-correctly? I was working on OPT.

    3. I got married in Oct 2011 and my wife is here in the US on F2 visa so she is not working and has no income. Should I be filing as "Married filing Jointly" or "Married Filing Separately"? Since I am a non resident I suppose it is "Married Filing Separately". Please let me know which one it is.

    4. If we are filing separately, since she is not working she does not need to file her taxes, correct?

    5. Is there any benefit I get in terms of tax refund now that I am married and that my wife is a dependent?

    Thanks!
