    Economic Stimulus Rebate
I filed an MFJ Tax Return for the TY 2007 using my spouse ITIN. Now she received SSN. Am I eligible to receive the stimulus rebate by filing an amended return with IRS?

    Please let me know.

    Thanks!!

You should get the rebate if you file the amended return. However, IRS is giving rebates for the first time so there are no precedents.
If you don't file amended tax return, you will get rebate when you file your 2008 tax return. If you do not receive full amount of $600 now, then you may get the balance amount when you file your 2008 return, and you become eligible for the tax rebate.

    Unfortunately, no!

On 14 April 2008, the IRS specified that tax returns filed using an ITIN could NOT be amended using the newly-issued SSN to claim the stimulus rebate.

However, you WILL qualify for the stimulys rebate in 2009 when you file your 2008 tax return using your spouse's SSN.

NO! Unfortunately your spouse did not have a SSN during the tax year of 2007. Therefore your spouse is not eligible. However, you or your children (if you have any) should be qualified and you should recv a check for them.
