    I bought a car in 08 can I deduct that sales tax?
    I bought a car in 2008 but rent my home. Can I still deduct the car's sales tax on my taxes?

    Probably not, as the sales tax is an itemized deduction, and, without a home mortgage, most people cannot accumulate enough itemized deductions to exceed their $5,450 standard deduction.
