    About FICA taxes!
    Dear Taxexpert:

    I am an J-1 holder and doing research at a university in US now. I came here in 29th Oct. 2004. But this year,the FICA withheld in my wages. I want to know if I should pay this taxes or not? Thanks!

    I believe that FICA taxes became due in Oct 2006.

    Was FICA withheld for the entire year?

    Yeah,it was withheld for entire year of 2006.

    This is your 3rd year on J1. You are now a resident (for 2006) and FICA makes sense (unless you meet the more general exception for students).
