    1099-misc multiple state?
I reside & work in Indiana (commercial actor & print model), but also travel to other states for talent jobs. Do I have to file state returns for each state I've worked in? (i.e. print job in OH, commercial job in GA, promo job in CA, etc.) Or can I just file in Indiana if I'm self-employed and these are considered clients? I received 1099-MISC's from all of my talent agencies, who are also based in different states, including IN. Help!

    Jnjax:

It depends on HOW MUCH you earned in each specific state.

ALL of the money is subject to Indiana income tax, because Indiana is your state of residence. If you make OVER a set amount (which varies from state to state), you may also have to pay tax to that state on the money earned within the state borders, then claim a credit for that tax on your Indiana state tax return.

The link below shows the tax rates for the various states. If you combine the standard deduction and personal exemption as listed, and compare that with the total earned in that state, you would probably have to file if the total amount earned in the state EXCEEDS the total of the standard deduction and personal exemption.
