I have run Kaspersky anti virus software and it is the only security software that has identified Trojan-downloader.JS.Psyme.amv on my machine. It tells me that it is in C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Local Settings\temporary internet files. However I can't find out how to access this location and remove it. I have tried to remove all temporary internet files but can't remove the pronlem. Can anyone suggest a remedy?

Other software I have used include McAfee, Spyware Bot and Ad-Aware.

First things first, download and install CCleaner, run it immediately using the default settings and let it clean out everything it can.

Then run your detection software and see if it's gone now.

I would download and run malwarebytes, no need to purchase as it will work - purchasing it will just give you the option to run it in real time but you can use it as a stand alone application

I also used this software to find this same virus and was having problems finding the NetworkService folder as well. It can be found. If you click on my computer, then click on C, then click on documents and settings and then go up to the top of the box and click on tools and then folder options, click on the view tab, uncheck the tab that says hide protected operating system files. Click on apply and then close this box and your folder should show up and then you can delete the file. Once you delete this virus, remember to go back and recheck the hide protected operating system files and hit apply and also to empty your recycle bin.

You can with malwarebytes in the safemode with networking, it remove all kind of malware and trojan from your PC.

Hi there, I also have a potential problem with a trojan virus, and started to download Malwarebytes, free trial. I'm not very good with computer stuff, and don't have any help at my current location. Anycase, the download was blocked by my internet explorer, I know I can overide that, but am frightened in case I cause more problems! Norton 360 security is installed on my computer, I'm sure it'll be OK to just instal Malwarebytes, but really I'm looking for agreement from someone who knows more about these things than I do. Can anyone confirm please, thanks :)

Hi again, I downloaded Malwarebytes as suggested, and they identified an adware problem, which is now resolved. As my Norton 360 did not identify this and said I had no virus etc, I'm thinking now that I might be better off uninstalling Norton and buying the Malwarebytes system. At the minute I have them both on my computer, and have been warned that the 2 systems might 'fight against' each other therefore weakening my security. I'm very much a beginner and don't know much about these systems, I thought that by paying Norton 83 euros I could relax hoping they would take care of things. I know this might seem a stupid question, but if I buy Malwarebytes, will they have a Firewall, also is there any other systems I can run alongside Malwarebytes e.g.. CC Cleaner, Spybot etc

Norton is Anti VIRUS
And
Malwarebytes is Anti MALWARE

TWO different things entirely.
You need BOTH types of scanner.
There really isn't much point in purchasing Malwarebytes as the free version does everything you need.
