Dreams about flying and what they mean
Twice in the last week I have a dream about flying. The first dream I was flying to get away from an ex-boyfriend who wanted me back. He was trying to keep me captive, so I escaped and when I saw him and his friends chasing behind me, I flew up into the trees where I was safe. I awoke right after flying up into the tree.

The second dream was somewhat different. I was in an old dilapidated building with people who looked dead. I asked the man why he looked like that and he said he was in hell. I told him to watch me, and I started flying. He asked me what I was doing, and I told him I was showing him and the others how to get from hell into heaven.

Does anyone have experience in dream recognition, and why it is that I have had these two similar dreams all within one week? Could there be hidden meaning to these types of dreams?

I think this is a way to show you that you are spirit and that you are free, that you can get away from trouble or danger and thus overcome everything. You can also show people the way how to be free! It is true that when the more you fly in your dreams the more they become lucid and you'll be aware of having control of the dream and maybe therefor of your life!

Also the dream is warning you to not let others hold you back or tie you down.

Thanks to the 3 of you for your responses.

I am usually a very free and independent thinker. However as free as I am I do feel lately that others are trying to hold me back. They are not doing this intentionally, matters mostly out of their control, but obviously my subconscious is not aware of that yet.

Strange thing is for the past couple of months I am able to control every aspect of my dreams. I can stop them, start them, change them, and get out of them if things get too tough. I understand this is called lucid dreaming. However, if I am lucid dreaming, I question whether I am really getting proper rest. Not much of what I dream could I possibly incorporate into my personal life. The matter of the subject is usually to extreme and for lack of a better word - farfetched.

However, I thank you all for the info, this has proved most useful and has helped me better to understand.
