Know what I think is the deadliest sin? G-R-E-E-D! It has destroyed friendships, families and nations. I don't think any of the ones that made it to the top ten list can come close to the destruction that "greed" can. It's a human thing, and one that seems to be a garnered tradition in most nations, today. I think in some degree we all have our moments when we give into it, but I think those of us, when we do succumb to greed, do it without hurting or stepping on the little people. It might perhaps be OK to walk by a blind beggar and not give him your last dime. But not OK to drop a quarter in his cup with one hand and take out a dollar with the other.

People just don't get it. We are here for EACH other, to be helpful to each other. Greed completely circumvents the humanity in us all, and so we become inhumane to our fellowman. Surely GREED should be an 11th commandment. Don't you think?

Greed is what makes us cling to this glittering worldly life, thinking it will last forever.

Greed makes us humans less human because greed can overtake our souls and make us do things we never thought we could.

I don't know if it's the deadliest sin... I think it won't bring happiness because the person is always left wanting more. I guess to me happiness is being satisfied in all aspects of my life!

Greed knows no boundaries: USA, Canada, Great Britain... wherever! The whole planet is infected! How many children are dying every minute all over the world? Why? Surely the rich could easily feed them all. AND I MEAN THEM ALL! But what do they do when a national tragedy hits, they go beggin' to the PUBLIC to contribute, and why do they do that? Because MOST of the money collected never gets to who it is meant to get to, but often is redirected elsewhere. Billions of dollars (from our national budget) every year is unaccounted for, lost, who knows where, and do Americans care? Hell no... complacency is now the way "of the people." It's the way that we've been programmed for a long, long, time... by our own government. Don't you see that?
So much greed, so much complacency... I can't imagine what kind of America is taking shape now; it doesn't feel right, anymore, anywhere!

It is a cancer in the heart of America and it is spreading rapidly throughout the entire body. I don't think there is anything that can stop it today. This has to be the saddest bit of news any American has to hear - a great nation is dying, decaying from within. :(

The concept of “sin” is extremely strange. It implies an offense to a god of some kind, and this is, as far as I can see, impossible. Even if we're talking about a relatively small superior conscious domain, like a planet, they are very far from [being] intelligences that can be offended, because this is a human emotion.

A sin is not “bad” because some god doesn't like it, but because it is an ERROR or mislead in some human purpose-goal view.

For example: I want to be healthy. That's a purpose/goal. Ok, so I want to be healthy, nevertheless I eat and drink like a pig, because I am extremely anxious. Oh-oh, your ATTACHMENT will cause suffering because it will BLOCK your advance towards your goal.

Attachment is the key-word. No matter what's your goal (spiritually speaking). Attachment will try to block your way: Attachment to money and power, attachment to sex, attachment to food, attachment to any object, any person, anything.

So, thing about being UNattached.

The concept of sin is extremely strange? I assume you are talking about your perspective. The concept I am speaking about is common precept... one followed by the majority of religious believers. The Ten Commandments were, I'm pretty sure, not written by a planet.

The ten commandments were written by a human or a group of humans (more likely) influenced or inspired by what is usually called “Manu”. A Manu is a conscience level below the planetary level. It is linked to the collective mind of a tribe or nation and works in a comprehensible way for that collective.

It is relatively easy to get connect to your Manu, although you won't like what you'll see, for the collective degradation is seen through this.

Herr… Sorry, but I don't know exactly what do you mean with this expression. I found 'I got you' and 'a detrimental condition' as meanings in the dictionary, and…? For the first meaning, I see no divergence in the posts.

Asking generally to the forum (not for you specifically, and not in my name only), please don't use slangs or reductions/contractions, it's difficult to understand for a non-native speaker, and to have one big international forum is better than having many small local ones!

I believe sin is sin no matter how big or small. For me there is no deadly sin for sin in itself is death, greed among other things like hatred is just attributes of not living a godly life. PS. This is only my point of veiw

Pride my friends is the deadliest of all sins. It ismentioned in the Bible as well as many of the great literary books on the subject, Paradise Lost, Dante's Divine Comedy, and the Bible.

Pride is the precursor to all sins and that is why it is the first sin mentioned in the Bible with thestory of the Garden of Eden. Mans first sin on earth was Pride and it alsomentions that "pride cometh before the fall" this is in relation to Satans fall from heaven and also of man's fall from grace.

We all have our own opinion which is valid but to be technically sound about it the bible says it Pride and I agree.
