What is the name of this song and who does it?
I need to know who sings this country song and the name of it. Some of the words I know are real spotty. I don't know all the lines. It talks about the sun coming up, that summers coming and the days are getting long. It also talks about ligthning bugs floating on the trees.
Impress me and thanks for the help!!

Is this it? Garth Brooks
"Fishin' In The Dark"
Lazy yellow moon coming up tonight
Shining through the trees
Crickets are singing and lightning bugs
Are floating on the breeze
Baby, get ready
'Cross the field where the cerrk turns back
By the old stump road
I'm going to take you to a special place
That nobody knows
Baby, get ready
You and me going fishin' in the dark
Lying on our backs and counting the stars
Where the cool grass grows
Down by the river in the full moonlight
We'll be falling in love in the middle of the night
Just moving slow
Spend the whole night through
Feels so good to be with you
Spring is almost over and the summer's coming
The days are getting long
I've waited all winter for the time to be right
Just to take you along
Baby, get ready
And it don't matter if we sit forever
And the fish don't bite
We'll jump in the river and cool ourselves
From the heat of the night
Baby, get ready
You and me going fishin' in the dark
Lying on our backs and counting the stars
Where the cool grass grows
Down by the river in the full moonlight
We'll be falling in love in the middle of the night
Just moving slow
Spend the whole night through
Feels so good to be with you
You and me going fishin' in the dark
Lying on our backs and counting the stars
Where the cool grass grows
Down by the river in the full moonlight
We'll be falling in love in the middle of the night
Just moving slow
Spend the whole night through
Feels so good to be with you

All right, I see that Emerson Drive also did it. But I've never heard garth sing it... and I've loved garth my entire life! I'm about 95% sure that Nitty Gritty Dirt Band did it first

Yeah I was just thinking Nitty Gritty Dirt Band would have to have done it first because they are from the 60's 70's so the fish is on me!

Ok... from what I could find, the song was written/copyrighted in 1987 (Jim Photoglo / Wendy Waldman).
Garth released it on The Lost Sessions box set in 2005/6-ish... depends, it was released through the Wal-Mart deal and then later independently...
Emerson Drive released it on What If? In 2004...
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band released it on Hold On in 1987...
DING DING DING we have a winner...

I've seen Nitty Gritty in concert half a dozen times and have met the guys. My brother was a marketing mngr. and entertainment booking agent, so I got to meet a lot of bands that came to town. Trust me, It's Nitty Gritty who did 'Fishin In The Dark' originally.
So many good songs came out of that band, and lots of remakes of a lot of their songs have been made.
Nitty Gritty also did the most popular remake themselves of Mr Bojangles originally done by Sammy Davis Jr.
