Any music suggestions for Easter season? I want to become the parish director of music at my church in Brooklyn, NY, so I can build up to my career as a musician and a composer and conductor. You know, start small and build your way up. I wanted to come up with ideas on what hymns to sing for the Easter season. Since Easter is 50 days before Pentecost, that's a really long time, and it takes as much planning as possible. Here are my ideas; The Easter Vigil does not have a lot of hymns at my parish; we only sang two hymns this year to save room for some anthems. We sang \"This is the feast of victory\", and \"Hymn to joy\" as the recessional. On Easter Sunday, we'll sing \"Jesus Christ is risen today\" as our entrance hymn, then \"Christ the lord is risen again\", \"Alleluia! The strife is o'er\", \"This is the feast of victory\", \"Good Christians all rejoice and sing\", and lastly \"Christ the lord is risen today\" sung to Llanfair, as the recessional. On the Second Sunday after Easter/or Divine Mercy Sunday, it follows as this; we'll sing \"The day of resurrection\", \"That Easter day with joy was bright, \"We walk by faith\", \"O sons and daughters/O filli et filae\", and lastly, \"Hail thee festival day\". On the Third Sunday after Easter, we'll use \"Christ is alive\", \"We know that Christ is raised\", \"Come risen lord and deign to be our guest\", and \"Hail thee festival day\". The music director at my Parish in Brooklyn NY, played back the recessional hymn on the Second and Third Sunday of Easter, following \"the hymn to joy\" as a postlude. I thought I could do the same thing. I like it. It's Easter. It's Beethoven. Anyone who is a parish director of music agree/disagree with this?
