    What is a reasonable settlement?
I'm from Riverdale, GA. I was recently in an accident where I was hit from behind. It was not a lot of damage, but damage nevertheless. I got the guy's insurance information, and we are in the process of settling the matter. The car damage estimates are in, but we are lost as far as the bodily injury claim. We don't want sell ourselves short, and we want what is fair and will settle this. I went to a chiropractor, and fortunately able to return to work. I haven't been back since then, however I still feel back twinges from time to time. The bill comes to just under $400. On top of all of this, I was arrested because I was in my father's new car that he just recently bought, and he had not registered the car yet in his name, so my liberty was taken away from me for the night in question. Another reason why the officer arrested me is that I was unaware at the time my license was suspended, and after doing the research and correcting my license, it was because the city where I had gotten a ticket at did not report to the State licensing people that I had paid the ticket, so it was listed as being suspended. Now with these facts said, can you tell me what is a reasonable settlement that I can get dealing with the insurance company? Please help me.:o

Ok, the problems with the registration on the car and the suspension of your license have absolutely NOTHING to do the accident and do not enter into the settlement at all.

So, the only issue is your medical expenses and time lost from work. What I would do is talk to the chiropractor. Get his estimate of whether you have been cured or whether you may need further treatement. Increase that amount by 25-50% and that's what I would settle for.
