    What can I do if I lent someone money and they refuse to pay
    I have legal documentation, but the person says they have no money and they are in the process of trying to get on disability.

    You sue, get a Judgment and then worry about getting paid.

    Their inability to pay does not effect their legal obligation to pay.

    Of course, the difficult part of Small Claims Court is actually collecting on the Judgment - you have to locate assets in many cases and that's a tedious, difficult project.
